Ketamine Assisted Therapy

Welcome to the Oregon Center for Optimal Health’s Ketamine Assisted Therapy (KAT) program, a groundbreaking approach to mental and emotional well-being. Our KAT treatments, conducted under the expert guidance of our experienced team, offer profound relief for individuals struggling with various mental health conditions. Through this innovative therapy, we aim to provide you with a transformative journey toward emotional healing and a brighter, more fulfilling future.

We require a medical intake prior to starting KAT sessions to establish if the treatment should be safe and effective for you.  Insurance may cover this medical intake, it is unlikely to cover the treatments themselves.  Contact us today if you would like to establish a medical visit to discuss whether KAT may be right for you!

What is Ketamine Assisted Therapy?

Ketamine Assisted Therapy (KAT) is a cutting-edge therapeutic approach that combines the powerful effects of ketamine with skilled therapeutic guidance to address a range of mental health conditions. Ketamine, when administered in a controlled and supervised setting, can create an altered state of consciousness that allows individuals to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences more deeply. It works by modulating neurotransmitters in the brain, promoting neuroplasticity, and enabling the formation of new neural connections.

This unique process often leads to rapid and profound relief from conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and more. During a KAT session at the Oregon Center for Optimal Health, Dr Jorgenson provides compassionate support and guidance, helping patients navigate their inner landscapes, gain insights into the root causes of their challenges, and develop coping strategies. KAT offers not only relief from symptoms but also the opportunity for profound personal growth and transformation, making it a promising option for those seeking holistic and effective mental health care.

Benefits of Ketamine Assisted Therapy

Massage and manual therapy:

  • Rapid Relief: KAT often provides rapid relief from symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other mental health challenges, with noticeable improvements sometimes occurring after just one session.
  • Enhanced Self-Exploration: Ketamine can promote deep introspection and self-awareness, helping individuals gain insights into the root causes of their struggles and facilitating personal growth.
  • Reduced Suicidal Thoughts: KAT has shown promise in reducing suicidal thoughts and behaviors, offering a lifeline for those experiencing severe emotional distress.
  • Low Addiction Risk: Unlike many traditional medications, ketamine has a low likelihood of addiction, making it a safe option for treatment.
  • Improved Mood and Functionality: Patients often report enhanced mood, increased energy levels, and improved overall functionality in their daily lives following KAT sessions.
How does Ketamine Assisted Therapy Work?

Ketamine, when administered in a controlled and supervised setting, can profoundly impact brain function. It works by modulating neurotransmitters like glutamate, leading to the formation of new neural pathways and synapses. This neuroplasticity can help individuals break free from the patterns of negative thinking and emotions that contribute to their mental health challenges. During KAT sessions, patients experience an altered state of consciousness that allows them to explore their thoughts and emotions more deeply, guided by Dr Jorgenson.

Ketamine Assisted Therapy FAQ

Yes, when administered by trained professionals in a medical setting, KAT is considered safe. We closely monitor each patient during sessions to ensure their well-being.
KAT sessions typically last around 90-120 minutes, although the duration can vary depending on the individual and their specific treatment plan.  You will typically want to plan for a total of 3 hours, but allow for the potential of more time if needed.
KAT can be a valuable option for many individuals, but it is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Our team will conduct a thorough evaluation to determine if KAT is the right fit for you.
Some patients may experience side effects such as dizziness, nausea, or vomiting during the session.  It does inhibit one’s ability to drive and operate heavy machinery, so you do need to make sure to have someone else give you a ride home from the visit.
